A Preschool Riddle

May 17, 2011

Monkey is now more than half way done with his first reading lesson book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The book has been wonderful for us, and I highly recommend it for a first reading book.

Now that he is reading rather well and is able to sound out so many words, I’ve started having him write his own stories. “Stories” might be a little generous of a word, because in his case they are just one simple sentence. That one sentence takes about a half an hour to sound out and write. I am learning a great deal of patience! The hardest part for me is not correcting each spelling mistake.

This is the second story he wrote. Can you read it? It has a title (underlined) and one sentence.

If you are an early education teacher, you have a great advantage!

I will post the interpretation tomorrow.

A Hint:

Here are the letters he wrote with the correct spacing. Maybe that’ll help…

u brokn bik

bbob brok bils bik.

The Answer:

A Broken Bike

Bob broke Bill’s bike.
