Monkey Math

September 2, 2010

I started writing this post back on May 29. It had been a while since I had mentioned anything “school” related here and Monkey and I just had a humorous conversation about rice that night so I figured I would add in some other math-related things we’ve been up too. I didn’t publish the post right away since I wanted to wait and take some pictures to go with it. When I woke up the next morning, I had an email in my inbox from a friend asking if I would write a guest post for her blog. The topic? Pre-school math. So I put the post aside to add to and refine later. Later has arrived and I’m excited to have my very first post as a guest blogger!

Lea Ann is a columnist for Home School Enrichment magazine and has recently written an article about early math and wanted a post for her blog when the article was published. Although I feel grossly underqualified to be writing about early math for someone else, you can read about the math I do with Monkey over on her blog: Whateverstate I Am

You are super-qualified! Not only are you a well-trained scientist, mathematician, and former Calculus and science teacher, but you are -most importantly- an extremely talented math teacher of your own preschoolers. You inspire, motivate, and amaze me constantly with your work. I can’t thank you enough for your help on my article and for writing for WhateverState!

Fabulous Karen! You are doing a wonderful job of making math what it is supposed to be – a tool for our daily lives!
