Snow Taller Than You (If You Are Bruiser)

February 9, 2010

This past weekend we had some good friends come over for the weekend to help us with the basement remodel project. The last two times we’ve gotten together with them it has snowed. This weekend made time number three.

The guys spent Saturday morning (and evening) shoveling, but did manage to get a good bit done on the basement in between.

We only have two shovels, so that meant that somebody got stuck using Monkey’s. I’m pretty sure they rotated using the kid shovel. Its best use seemed to be shoveling the snow off the cars.

We (the wifeys) were going a little crazy with the kiddos pent up in the house. So after nap time we all took a walk around the block. Pictures courtesy of Squirt’s Mom.

The height of the snow made me feel like a little kid again!

Squirt, Bruiser, Monkey and Pinky all sitting on a snow bank.

This snow bank.

The last time we took these kids out sledding in the snow they were miserable. They couldn’t walk in it, it was cold and windy. This day was COMPLETELY different! They all loved it! This part of the street got cleared quickly thanks to the sun.

Whenever a car would come, someone would yell “CAR!” and the kids would jump in a snow bank. Or better yet, we would throw them up there. =)

Monkey was quite proud of the giant snowball he found.

Bruiser and Pinky wanted to copy him of course.

Nothin’ quite like making a snow angel in the road slush!

The snow was as tall as Bruiser, but he didn’t weigh enough to sink all the way down. He just stood there watching the girls eat the white stuff.

Back at the house, I challenged them to climb the mountain (our front stairs). This is about as far as they got before giving up.

By the time we got back in, Pinky’s hands were bright red and freezing cold. She didn’t complain once about it outside. What a trooper!

It’s all fun and games until your mom has to rescue you!

I didn’t even ask them to help me.

I am standing on the ground.

Drippy noses and red cheeks say it’s time to go in.

Oh, one more thing. When you are parking five cars in your driveway to make sure the plows can get through, this is how close you have to get. Those guys are pretty good at car dancing!

I’m not sure if even I could make one! There’s just too much snow, all you do is sink down. The kids really loved walking in the street and sliding on the banks, but not trying to walk through the deep stuff.
