Driving Hazard

January 27, 2010

To get to the Children’s Museum today we had to get on the highway. Bruiser LOVES the highway. As soon as I get to the on-ramp I hear:

“Fatter! Fatter!” (Faster, Faster)

I wish it were possible for me to type out the excitement in this kid’s voice. He loses all control when he sees cars. Especially fast cars and big trucks. Here’s how the rest of the trip went down.

Bruiser would lock eyes on the next car or truck one lane over and in front of us. With outstretched arms and clenched fists, he would then shout,”Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on!” until I would nearly pass the car. Then when I was right next to it (by his window) at the top of his lungs he’d yell, “CAR!!!”

The moment the car was out of sight he would lock eyes on the next one and start shouting “Come on!” again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to drive the speed limit (or just a little over) when your enthusiastic toddler is screaming with delight from the back seat for you to just keep passing every car and truck he sees?

We arrived at the Museum 5 minutes earlier than the GPS originally predicted.

I know! Makes me want to all get in the car and just drive one exit down and then turn back! I was laughing so hard, Sis!
